If a PC can be used with this situation, use the latest version of Yahoo Messenger with Voice...you can get a chat window open them use a microphone with speakers and talk to the person without incurring charges.
What are the options to make cheap international calls from India , especially using VoIP or Calling Cards?
I think Lingo (VoIP) may have the best rates for India: as low as 2.9 cents per minute. They have a "South Asia" plan which I am guessing would be a good option for you.
Also, Phone Power may be a good option, they have a promo of $9.95 for unlimited local and LD, with fairly low per minute costs to India.
