If you make a call from a calling card from your cell phone, does it show up on the part of the bill that has all of the calls listed on it? Or does it just not show up like on a regular phone bill?

Calling cards DO show up on your cell phone bill as the 800 # that you called and how many minutes you used during that call. Those minutes do count toward your limit.
But, it won't show who you called with that calling card. The only thing that'll show is the 800-XXX-XXXX number.
If you're trying to use a calling card so that the person that pays the bill doesn't see who you are calling, then this will be a great way to do it. They won't know who it is that you're calling.
But if you are trying not to use your minutes up by using a calling card, then this is not going to work. You'll still use up your minutes. But I have a feeling that you don't care about this option. You are more concerned about concealing the phone number of who you are calling.

But I'll warn you, it is usually a survey or sweepstakes kind of thing where they ask for Name, phone #, address etc. and sell your name and personal info to companies who will call and junk mail you!
If you don't mind that, then go ahead and try them remembering that nothing is for "free"!

I've spent hours surfing around trying to find the best way to call Irish mobiles from the UK - either from a mobile or from a fixed line. There are a few services out there which let you dial an 07744 number from your mobile but I'm on 3 and they block that. I just bought an IDT calling card for Mexico at Walgreens. It says the rates are 5 cents for some cities, 9 cents for others, and 12.5 cents for the rest. Then it says rates are higher to call a cell phone (which is what I would normally do, to a friend in one of the cities where landline rate is 12.5). My boyfriend just left for Marine bootcamp yesterday. I know that they arent really permitted to make phone calls during bootcamp. But I heard that if you send them a calling card they can use it to call home. Anyone having issues with creditors calling you about credit cards used from at least 10 years ago?
A couple months ago, I received a call from a debt collector regarding a card that I haven't used in 10 years wanting to collect on a balance that I was told back then was written off (from the credit bureau) due to my illness at the time. I was literally in shock. Not sure what to do about it since I no longer have the card or any statements since it's been 10 years. Please Help if you know of anything I can do. Thanks!

The statute of limitations is different in every state but the longest one I know of is 6 years.
Basically, just tell them you don't owe it. There is not a thing they can do about it. After the statute of limitations runs, they cannot get a judgment against you so the bill is noncollectable. The reason they call people after 10 years is that most people don't realize this and if they can get anyone to agree to pay them even a dollar, the statute of limitations starts all over again.
Do not give them money. Do not agree you owe it. Do not tell them you will pay them anything.
Tell them you do not owe it. Period. Tell them the statute of limitations has run on it and tell them not to call again.
Go to the FTC website and look up your rights under the Fair Credit act.
These collection agencies purchase old debt, most of it is actually uncollectible but if they can get someone on the phone and rake them over the coals for about 10 minutes, and get them to agree to settle the debt because the person doesn't know their rights and that they really don't owe it, they will and they make money doing it.
If that debt is 10 years old, it is no longer on your credit report. If you pay them a dollar, you have just renewed the debt and it will go back on your credit report for another 7 years. Go get a copy of your credit report from all three credit reporting agencies. (link below). If it's not on there, it's uncollectible as they drop everything off after 7 years anyway. Be careful what you say to them on the phone. In fact, don't even talk to them. Tell them to send it to you in writing because you're disputing it anyway and hang up. Those guys are total jerks and will do anything to get you to say you owe it so they can renew the debt.

My mom constantly makes calls to Mexico to talk with her family (my aunts) and she buys these calling cards called Bonita Señorita which translates to Pretty Lady. What is the best phone card for international calling with the best connection plus clarity of call.?
I am looking for an international calling card to call to Kyrgyzstan and am looking for a card with a low rate but most important to me is the connection and clarity of the call. It does no good to have a low rate and not be able to be connected or you cannot hear the person when you make the call so please if someone knows of a card that is consistent please let me know. I have tried on line cards before and sometimes I could get through and could hear and most of the time I would have to try many times or wait till the next day and then I could not hear the person for the breaking up on the line. Ok........I have used AT%26amp;T phone cards I purchased at Sam's Club for years. In the past, when I would use the card, the caller ID of the person I was calling would show different numbers with a city's name, such as Denver, CO or Atlanta, GA or Omaha, NE, etc. It was a great way to call someone if you didn't want your caller ID information to show. Sometimes I would even use the phone card to make a local call that normally you wouldn't need to use a phone card for. BUT....but NOW....no more. I have used my SAME phone card for many years, recharging it when the minutes run out and for the past year or so, the number I am calling FROM will show up, even though I am dialing the 1800 number on the back of the phone card and doing exactly the same thing. Somehow, it will now show your phone number, at least on the AT%26amp;T phone cards so don't be quite so sure that your number will NOT show up because my number never showed up until the past year.
Of course, there IS no charge for dialing a 1800 number or 1888, so dialing the 1800 number on the back of the phone card is no different than calling an 800 number for any reason. It doesn't make any difference WHO the 800 number belongs to. It's called a toll-free call and doesn't affect any charges whatsoever on your phone bill.

I have used my SAME phone card for many years, recharging it when the minutes run out and for the past year or so, the number I am calling FROM will show up, even though I am dialing the 1800 number on the back of the phone card and doing exactly the same thing. Somehow, it will now show your phone number, at least on the AT%26amp;T phone cards so don't be quite so sure that your number will NOT show up because my number never showed up until the past year.
Of course, there IS no charge for dialing a 1800 number or 1888, so dialing the 1800 number on the back of the phone card is no different than calling an 800 number for any reason. It doesn't make any difference WHO the 800 number belongs to. It's called a toll-free call and doesn't affect any charges whatsoever on your phone bill.

No for your second question. If you use a phone card to call long distance, you're calling locally so it won't be charged as long distance for your phone provider.

Wal-Mart does sell international calling cards but I would use these ones ONLY for calls from the US. No matter what a calling card bought in the US says on the back it will not work for calls made in the UK. I promise you. My friends and I who studied in London for a year all bought different calling cards in the US that promised they would work abroad, well they didn't. This is because the only number to access them is a 1-800 number, which they don't have in the UK. Even the cards that offered a UK 0800 number did not work.
Go to Wal-Mart and talk to the people in the electronics section to find a good card for calling the UK from here. When you are in the UK go to any newsagent shop and ask them for a calling card to call the US with. Most shops will have 5, 10 and 20 pound cards.
