When using a prepaid calling card, is it true that my home phone number will not appear on the caller ID?

I don't want to person to know my number. I heard that the number of the calling card company appears on their caller id.

When using a prepaid calling card, is it true that my home phone number will not appear on the caller ID?
In most cases, your number will not appears because you will dial an 800 for the calling card company that you are using, then your call gets "routed" through that companies data bank, then routes through what ever phone companies lines that are needed to connect that call. There are rare instances that some calling card place calls show the originating phone number, such as your number would be, but again those are rare times this would happen. To be sure, call the customer service number for your calling card and verify with them how they route their calls and what number will appear.
Reply:MANY calling cards will just pass your CID information along with the call... SOME calling cards will not send your CID info...

if you are unsure if the calling card you are using will pass the CID info of your phone, use the calling card to dial your cell phone (you dont have to answer it to waste calling card minutes... ) and see what number, if any comes up..

CID info is not always accurate.. .however if you attempt to call a number that uses ANI, instead of CID to identify callers (usually 800#s. 900# 911, 311, etc) they will not receive your ANI
Reply:Since you have to dial the prepaid card phone, your number doesn't appear on the caller id of the person you're calling. You will be safe :). Also you can try *67 before you dial any number and your number will be blocked so no body will now the number you're calling from.
Reply:Last year I called a number using a calling card, and I thought the other person wouldn't know who was calling but my number was identifified., so the answer is yES IT WILL appear ur home number even if u use a card.
Reply:Yeah i think that's true.
Reply:True the number of the phone card will appear.
Reply:absolutely true
Reply:True. I using http://www.cheap-international-calling-c... and it is not show up
Reply:Yes, it will usually say a state. Actually any place- My sister called with a calling cardthe other day and it said Guam!
Reply:true dat.
Reply:I've used one to call my brother before and he said my number was on the caller ID. I didn't think it would be. Not that it mattered to me, because he's my brother and I wasn't needing or wanting to hide my number from him.
