Where do they sell calling cards in Paris and Rome..and how much do they cost if u want to call to Canada?

In Rome (and am sure in Paris as well) they sell them in International calling centers, where they have also PCs with Internet connection and phone boots to call worldwide.

It is always best if you call from and to a fixed line rather than calling with your mobile (if you have one) as the minutes it gives you decrease A LOT in the second case.

Normally, to call the US and Canada, the expensive ones can be about 20 Euro cents and the cheapest ones only a couple of cents. It is a bit of a trial and error, really, you have to ask other canadians living there (or on holiday) which one they get and take it from there.

They usually sell for 5 euros.

I also did an Internet research when I first moved to Germany (I call many different countries from here, always with a card) and came up with the one that works for me...

Have a nice trip!!!

You can get them at Tabacs (tobacco stores) and many super markets. You can also get them at post offices. A good rate would be about 10 cents per minute. If you're staying in a hostel or hotel, they might sell them there as well, or at least could point you in the right direction.
Reply:Consider buying a "virtual calling card". You will get PIN via email. There are many choices. I suggest to look at Nobelcom http://www.nobelcom.com/nobelcom/jsp/pro... A call from France to Canada costs just 3.9 c/min
Reply:In Paris and Rome, there are specialty shops with Internet, phones and calling cards. The shops usually look pretty dumpy; they often serve the lower end immigrant crowd and those that can't afford a home phone or internet service (though in the tourist areas these shops can be quite nice) The cards vary. The really cheap ones have crappy connections (but only cost a few cents per minute to call the USA). But the expensive ones can be quite expensive (50+ cents/min to the USA). I assume costs to Canada are similar.

The cards can be used with any pay phone; they don't have to be used in the shop.
Reply:I ususally buy the ''Carte telephonique universelle 365'' at CDG Airport, but you can get in any tobacco store in Paris. They have them in 5,10 or 15 euros. This card will allow you to call from any European country, including Italy. For Canada, it's the cheapest I've found, 3 cents a minute. Hope this helps!
