My boyfriend's going to Canada and I want to get him a calling card. what should i be looking for?

I live in the U.S. Do I need to be looking for an international calling card or something like that? I really don't know what I should be looking for. Help?

My boyfriend's going to Canada and I want to get him a calling card. what should i be looking for?
It depends on what country your bf is going to be calling. A calling card has different rates for different countries. That being said, when you buy a calling card (CC) make sure you dont have connection fee or maintenance fee. Even if it is a higher rate per minute without connection or maintenance fee, it would be cheaper in the long run.

Check this website out.

As far as I know this is the cheapest calling card from canada. You just call a toll free number, enter your pin and finally enter the # you want to call.

Some calling cards charge you lesss if you access a local access number (same as toll free but you call a local # in your area and then enter your pin and phone # you want to call) as opposed to toll-free #. Here is the link to see if you have a local access #.

Enter your bfs local landline number in Canada. Say for instance he is going to Toronto and the local number starts with 951-xxx-xxxx enter that number in the search box and hit search. Then he can call the number and enter the pin and destination #. He would be charged for local calls.

Rates for calling from Canada for both toll free %26amp; local access.

As you can see local access is cheaper than toll free access.

I hope this helps.
Reply:And another tip is how long is he going to be here, we have them here that range $10-20-30, and are gauged by the minute and length of the call, as the last respondant said if he waits until he is here even with our dollar at 95 cents am, it still is cheaper, plus if he needed another while he is here he can get one.
Reply:Wait until he gets to Canada and have him buy it here.

He can also use this service while in Canada, without buying a card. 3.5 cents/minute if you use a local YAK number.
